With over 2 decades in the fitness industry, Joanna enjoys making a difference in people’s life; changing and empowering them.
She believes that our body is great at healing itself. And if one suffers pain, the “right” type of exercise movements are critical in keeping it away. When she suffered a medial meniscus injury (tear of the knee cartilage), she opted for non-invasive treatment instead of an operation. The rehabilitation process includes specific pilates exercises, the use of various stretch and release techniques, deep tissue therapy, lymphatic drainage and myofascial release. All these were done together with a specific joint alignment exercise program. It took 14 months but she was back to brisk walking initially and later running.
Joanna is a fully certified teacher trainer with PhyscialMind Institute of New York. In 2005, her Singapore studio became the first certifying Pilates studio for PhysicalMind Institute in South East Asia. Nowadays, she loves to work individually or in small groups. As one of the pioneers in Pilates, she is also a Pilates master trainer and mentor; particularly training Pilates teachers or new students who are keen to learn more privately.
